Key 3 Power
Where power comes from is an important thing to consider. Especially when fossil fuels and geopolitical sources are involved the problem becomes life threatening. Urgency definitely fuels creativity. For the most part it keeps us from being lazy. An over abundance of urgency can wear people out though. It can make projects seem impossible and discourage development due to a seemingly unattainable objective in the time allowed. A healthy amount of urgency is good for productivity though. It focuses people and creates adrenaline that fuels imaginative solutions. Global warming for example is a very real concern for us today and going into the future. It’s a series of many problems creating one giant problem that needs a lot of little and huge solutions. The impending threat makes the need for these solutions more and more intense.
Life
Memories are the most important thing in the end. The things we keep and matter most to us are the things that trigger some memory from our past that we hold dear to our hearts. It is easy to get carried away with technology. My iPhone goes everywhere with me and I feel myself scrambling around when I can’t find it. But the most important thing my iPhone does is keep me connected with the people I love. When I am away from them I’ve found that I keep my iPhone very close to me. I always know where it is, as if the people I love live within it, and to lose it would be to lose them. When I’m able to be near those people I noticed that I rarely even know where my phone is or even care if it’s on me or not. The technology is great and I use my phone often to listen to podcasts, or check my email, or play games in my daily life. But those are really extras that I could definitely live without. In the end, it’s who I’m able to connect with, not the technology that really matters. This goes back to what it means to create a relationship and trust with a company and their design. When the design so greatly benefits the user and connects on an emotional level, the technology becomes more vital and necessary to our daily lives.
